Our History

The Brian Boru has been a public house for over 200 years with the present building dating from the 1850s and has been in the ownership of the Hedigan family since 1904.

We are conveniently located close to Glasnevin Cemetery, Croke Park and the Botanical Gardens. However, the connection to Brian Boru - The High King of Ireland - goes over 1000 years as it was here, where his army camped prior to the Battle of Clontarf, fought on Good Friday in 1014.

For many years Hedigans has  been a landmark in Glasnevin  and has become a famous venue for meals and refreshments. The Brian Boru is mentioned in Ulysses as Joyce's party of mourners pass by on their way to the Cemetery. We are well known for our excellent food and a wide range of menus and delicious cocktails.
